It started with a friendship

Dr. Euan McGinty grew up in optometry — his father was one, and he eventually built his own multi-location practice in Scotland before moving his family to Halifax for a fresh start.

Dr. John Wilson arrived from a different direction entirely: a career in UK law enforcement, a return to school for a degree in optometry from Bradford, and a relocation to Canada that eventually brought him to Halifax.

They became friends, and in 2013 they opened Ocean Optometry together on Blowers Street.

“We both knew the kind of practice we wanted to spend our time in. That's what we built.”

A new partner in style

In 2019, Stuart Cooksey arrived in Halifax — and found his people.

Stuart had spent over two decades in the industry, starting on the lab side and building a depth of knowledge about lenses and frames that's genuinely rare. He became a partner in 2022. It wasn't so much a business arrangement as the obvious next step.

The practice they built is the place they always wanted to work.

We'd love to have you in.
