Contact Lense Recycling

As you can imagine, the ocean is very important to us! Reducing waste and plastics from entering landfills and waterways is a great way for us to do our part to protect and maintain healthy ocean environments.

You can do your part by following these simple steps and returning your contact lenses to us.

Every Contact Counts

We participate in Canada's first contact-lens recycling program, run by Bausch + Lomb in partnership with TerraCycle, to keep used lenses, blister packs, and foil out of both.

Used lenses, blister packs, and foil are collected, processed by TerraCycle, and turned into recycled plastic materials rather than going to landfill.

How it Works

  • Collect your used lenses and blister packs at home in any container.
  • Separate the foil from the plastic on the blister packs.
  • Drop it off with us next time you visit — we'll handle the rest.
  • Repeat. Start the next collection.

Preparing your collection

A couple of small things make the process smoother once your collection reaches us:

  • Drain any solution. Remove excess contact lens solution from used lenses and packaging.
  • Dry rinsed items. If you've rinsed anything, let it dry fully before bringing it in.
  • Skip the cardboard boxes. Those are already recyclable through municipal blue-bin programs.
  • Skip the care accessories (cases, bottles). Municipal recycling handles those too.

That's the lot. The rest is on us.

Drop it off when you visit

Bring your collection to your next appointment — or just stop in. There's no minimum, and there's no schedule. If you're a contact lens patient with us, this is already part of the relationship.
